TAA is overrated for a RB. He can't defend well enough. If however he started to play in a midfield 3 or in a similar position that Beckham did then I can see him becoming a better (although different position) player.

We all know trent has a capability to become top top full back like marcelo , dani alves , lahm bt the problems is he is worse at defending gets dribble past easily.. can't defend physically so in order to be like those full back at least he has to be smart enough to do those defensive tricks(should puss, small nidge contact ) and make difficult to be beat by 1 on 1..just be basic defensively..bt till now i wouldn't want him in my euro England team rather take an extra mid field

Shocking that TAA hasn't looked the same this season with the best CB in the world behind him missing. England's CBs are closer to the quality of the guys TAA is playing with at Liverpool this year rather than the guys he had protecting him last year.

@Joel Fenning best rb? No. This is against a villa team where Liverpool dominated possession. Against better teams he can’t defend for nuts. Even Vinicius jr tore him to shreds like he wasn’t even there. Dude just tripped over himself and let Vinicius walked past him. He’s a good player yeah. nah we liverpool fans did, lots of us hyped him up after one good game vs a an Arsenal team that was extremly awful in the 2nd half. but it also just was one game, should have waited for him do make 3-4 very good performances in a row and then talk and throw shade at southgate etc.

When it comes to RB he is world class. The fact that this is even a question and the other options are AWB (can't even kick or tribble a ball), Trippier (would be my #2), Reece James (if you play in a back 5 maybe, but if Gareth Southgate plays with 5 at the Euros man doesn't deserve the job), and Kyle Walker (who barely plays at City and is more viable as a CB option for a back 5) is mind-blowing. If you're going to the Euros to win you have him lined up next to Stones, Maguire, Dean/Pope, and Shaw/Chilwell no questions.

There's NO WAY England will EVER WIN a Major Trophy- If They WORRY more about KEEPING CLEAN SHEETS/DEFENDING- (By picking the BEST DEFENDERS) rather THAN OFFENSIVE FORWARD Thinking MATCH WINNING PLAYERS- Like TAA. period!

Exactly. England has so much talent going forward they shouldn't need their RB to provide so much service. Play the better defenders and let Kane, Sterling, Foden, Rashford, etc provide the goals.

Alexander-Arnold is a brilliant footballer but he’s not a brilliant right back.

I'd really use trent as a central midfielder I reckon with his passing he could open defences up

TAA cannot defend. In International football, there is not much space between defensive line and goalie and midfielders are tight enough. He flourish in attacking team bombing forward but not needing to come back. Southgate's style if there is any is ultra defensive with 3 central defenders and 2 wingback who can defend. Reece James seem to be a balance between TAA and AWB. And then there is Kyle Walker who can equally bomb forward. Being good at crossing means he may have to change position like a certain Bale who started life as a mediocre left back.

Clean sheets don't make themselves. Man City's clean sheet record this season is undeniable. And the way Kyle Walker can tuck in as a third CB when the team is going forward whilst also offering an attacking threat has been pivotal in that. That's what Southgate is looking for. You just never really feel at ease with TAA guarding that flank, especially in this latest season. If Trent polishes up his defensive game, he'll be there

Well why is Trent being given a kick up the back side when so many England players have been picked for years for being a million times worse than Trent? Welbeck rarely ever scored for anybody yet he got picked, Walker was shocking half the time and he still started, Maguire is horrific and he still starts.

You cant stick with players in international football , its not club football , you earn a place based on performances , too many young players have one good season and thats them locked into the england squad and no other player gets a look in , little golden boys floating above the rest even when not performing is why england fail , thankful southgate us putting a stop to that bs 👍

TAA is a great great player... for Liverpool... but to say he's the best right back in the world? it's a stretch. TAA is the best attacking wingback in the world... so good at crossing etc. and it works at liverpool but he would suck at many other clubs as he can't defend. Southgate should pick who's better for the national team... best player for the team NOT best player by name. Wan Bissaka and James are both much better for England. Goes back to when England picked Gerrard and Lampard to play in midfield, they were great players for their club and that style of play... but for England they sucked because they couldn't play together, and England suffered. Don't make the same mistakes over and over again.
