Ok but he was abysmal. Like so bad. Not only his tactics but his man-management was horrid at Monaco. Players would literally complain that he had a huge ego and would try to one-up the players during training. Glad to see him as a pundit tho, he’s pretty sound and entertaining.

Not many great players can be great manager for example Zidane, guardiola, capello, Cruyff, trapatonni, heykenes, ancelotti even beckenbauer those people are exception then you got an average player became great manager like Ferguson, Klopp, mourinho, hitzfeld, dieter flick, van gaal or Wenger they are student of the game who have to work hard from the lower league or even have to work under different manager to be great manager so you have two different path of being manager whether you like or not it's there to be seen.

This is the second time Henry gave me a huge grin while listening to his 'personal' stories related to football. The first one was Pep philosophy at Barca when tiki-taka was the cute name fed to consumers. It was actually 2/3 and with the monsters they had at every position the last 1/3 was a buffet... This time on how to make the way up from a bad position (getting hired) and try to change the DNA of a team by convincing each member to going back to basic and progress from the goal out without eliminating by forcing them to get rid of the 'old' habit (long ball) which is in itself a very useful skillset in other situations. The 'victory' is when team member started to do the right thing (moving the ball forward instead of sideway). Taking responsibility is a sign of confident. Working in IT and tried to explain the theory of football to people with education background and degrees from institutions are the hardest. Mostly impossible since they refuse simple logic but explain the Diamond shape is actually a special binary tree will make them LOL for the joke... Having 'technical' interviews are simply as stupid as coaches challenge players on how to do a Rabona. This is the reason why it's hard to find good developer and big compagnies tried different methods but forgot that human is corrupted per design as soon as power and money get into the process. Henry would be a kick ass developer and I will take as my teamate without a sweat. He will learn coding as I'll ask dumb questions on football... Henry ? Do we Rabona in Tiki-Taka ?

I finally understand why defenders try to play from the back at all costs even when it’s not working. It’s all about the coach’s philosophy. Sometimes the coach needs to realise earlier that his defenders aren’t good enough to play out of the back. Not every team is prime Barcelona.. not every squad is built for that.

I got a bit of defensive, back against the ropes vibes from this. Feel like the expectation and the reputation as a player he came with, has had an unfair impact on him. I can imagine, Thierry also has a lot of expectation on himself also. Which is why he joked about being alone in his own head. We fans, spectators and owners of football clubs need to support more, and be more realistic: Here, we have a new coach and manager who is continuing to learn which takes time. Expect a new coach and manager who is not the finished article, which will also take time.
